Donna Hamilton
Donna has been performing in various musical ensembles in and around Central Virginia for more than 20 years. Growing up in the fertile foothills of Virginia’s Nelson County, music was as much a part of her childhood as apple pie. She picked and sang her way through Dental Hygiene school and deeply honors the power of a day job.
As a young girl, when her banjo pickin’ grandfather became ill, Donna wrote her first song, thus giving rise to a music therapy that continues to heal and enrich her daily life. For the past decade, TigerLily has been a uniquely magical expression of her musical journey.
Carol McAvoy
Carol’s love of music and theater has propelled her down many paths over the years, from performing in rock and jazz ensembles to stage productions, TV commercials and local movies. She has also enjoyed teaching voice and acting, producing children’s theater and personally exploring the healing attributes of music while embarking on a new career in nursing.
Carol feels fortunate to be working with the talented musicians of TigerLily and is looking forward to the next chapter.
Gail Epps
The daughter of a Methodist minister, Gail is the product of a musical home. Her first and steadfast friend was the guitar. She was a drummer and percussionist in high school and discovered mountain music in college, while acting and singing in a traveling children’s theater troupe.
Gail’s journey of songs and stories has been expressed through a whole host of stringed instruments while on her way to becoming a special education teacher in Albemarle County, Virginia. TigerLily is a continuation of that journey.
Hudson Heatley
The newest addition to the TigerLily family, Hudson has been fiddlin’ around since age eight, and exploring other instruments along the way. Music has been a lifelong companion, a Grinnell College major, and a dream of Hudson’s, and she is proud and privileged to be living that dream with TigerLily.
A native of Lexington, VA, Hudson currently resides atop Walton’s Mountain in Schuyler, VA, renovating a 1930’s-era farmhouse with the help of her partner (and pets). She dreams that others too may one day reap the rewards of home ownership, and works in their interest as an AmeriCorps Senior Program Specialist with Habitat for Humanity International.
Trey Mitchell
Holding down the bottom end is Trey Mitchell on electric bass. Trey has been playing bass for more than 20 years and currently plays in another local band, Failure To Yield. Trey is the father of three and thanks God every day that his wife indulges him in his musical habit.
When he’s not making your foot tap and booty shake in TigerLily, he’s the Webmaster for the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities.
